ROLL CALL Present: Mr. Buell, Mr. Perkins, Mr. Rattner,
Mrs. Labow,
Mr. Tepper, Mr. Greenbaum
Absent: None
Also Present: William Sohl, Business Administrator;
Lisa Lashway, Township Clerk
MOTIONS
1. Appointment of Phil Tobey to fill Councilman John Biondi’s
unexpired term to expire 12/31/07.
President Greenbaum: We are up to Motions. The first is
a Motion pursuant to rule the Statute # NJSA 48:16 et
seq with respect to the appointment of an individual
to fill the vacancy created through the retirement of
Mr. Biondi. It’s so vivid I can almost picture
John sitting in the audience here tonight.
Mr. Tepper: He’s gone but not forgotten.
President Greenbaum: The Republican County Committee has
submitted three names to us for consideration. Those names
are Phil Tobey …I don’t have the list in front
of me, Alex Roman and Dawn Dodsworth. At this point I will
take a motion to fill the vacancy.
Mrs. Labow: I would like to move for consideration, Phil
Tobey.
President Greenbaum: It has been moved by Councilwoman
Labow.
Mr. Tepper: Second.
President Greenbaum: Seconded by Mr. Tepper. Are there
any other nominations? Seeing none, we will close it to
nominations and we will take a Roll Call vote please.
ROLL CALL: Passed Unanimously
President Greenbaum: Congratulations.
Clapping…
President Greenbaum: We are just kidding, let’s
do it again.
Mr. Rattner: Wait until he gets sworn in before you congratulate
him. He may not make it through.
Mrs. Lashway: Mr. Tobey has resigned from the Board of
Adjustment as a member, effective immediately.
Mr. Perkins: I mentioned two weeks notice.
Mr. Tepper: Take his spot Ray.
Mr. Rattner: He’s not done yet.
Swearing in Phil Tobey by Township Clerk Lisa Lashway
I, Philip Tobey, do solemnly swear that I will support
the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution
of the State of New Jersey; that I will bear true faith
and allegiance to the same and to the Governments established
in the United States and in this State, under the Authority
of the people; and that I will faithfully, impartially
and justly perform all the duties of the office of Councilman
according to the best of my ability, so help me God.
Clapping…
Mr. Rattner: The only thing is the last guy had better
ties.
Mr. Tepper: You have to wear a different tie every meeting.
You have a tradition to follow. John will give you the
collection.
President Greenbaum: Bill, did you have something?
Mr. Sohl: Yes, I would just like to welcome Phil to the
team and extend on behalf of the Mayor, who is either pool
side or bar side about this time after a tough day of snorkeling,
I spoke to him about 4:30 – 5:00 today and again
extending what we expect to see is a great job to come
from the new member of the Council. Phil, best wishes to
you.
Phil Tobey: Thank you very much.
President Greenbaum: The Mayor is only at his house right?
Mr. Sohl: I told him it was only six degrees out last
night and he almost fell through the floor.
Mr. Tepper: He probably laughed.
Mr. Sohl: That he did.
President Greenbaum: Phil did you have anything you wanted
to say?
Mr. Tobey: Yes, Mr. President. It’s an honor having
been nominated by the County Committee and selected by
the Council. I am looking forward to working with everyone
here on Council with the Administration and serving the
residents of Mount Olive. I would like to thank my wife
for all of her support which is never ending.
President Greenbaum: Good thing you said that, otherwise
going home tonight would have sucked.
Mr. Tobey: I would have been going to your house.
PUBLIC PORTION
President Greenbaum: I would be remiss if we didn’t
also congratulate the other two individuals, Alex and Dawn,
for their nominations. Both were worthy candidates and
hopefully will have a future of leadership within the Township
in years to come. At this point we are going to conclude
our Special Public Meeting portion of the meeting and I
would open it up to the public to anyone who wishes to
speak on any particular issue. Seeing none, I close it
to the public.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
President Greenbaum: Does anyone sitting up here have
any issues that they feel compelled to discuss at this
point in time or can we just move on with the rest of our
meeting? Seeing none. I will close it to everyone sitting
up here. Can we get a motion to adjourn?
Mr. Perkins: So moved.
Mr. Rattner: Second.
President Greenbaum: Moved and seconded, all in favor.
AYE
ADJOURNMENT
Motion was made and seconded, all in favor and none opposed,
the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm. and the regularly
