The Public Meeting of the Mount Olive Township Council was called to Order at 10:45 pm by Vice President Labow with the Pledge of Allegiance.

According to the Open Public Meetings Act, adequate notice of this meeting has been given to the Mount Olive Chronicle. Notice has been posted at the Municipal Building, 204 Flanders-Drakestown Road, Mount Olive Township, New Jersey and notices were sent to those requesting the same.

Vice President Labow: Mrs. Maniscalco, is that the boarding and euthanasia for April?

Mr. Sohl: Is that a question? What’s the question? We spent $1,806 on the Animal Hospital.

Mrs. Maniscalco: What, Colleen?

Vice President Labow: The question for page 1 for Golub.

Mrs. Maniscalco: He just made a comment. He didn’t ask a question.

Mr. Russell: I just think that’s $1,800 we didn’t have to spend.

Mr. Sohl: Okay.

Mr. Russell: Page 14, I’m seeing non contract repairs for almost $18,000.

Mrs. Maniscalco: Tim, that’s Sanitation which I know you know we spoke about the other day.

Mr. Russell: That’s Sanitation?

Mr. Quinn: One of them was $12,000 and change for an insurance payment due to an accident to the vehicle. Another, I think it was $4,000 of that but I might be a little off, but it was an upper end of that engine that had to be rebuilt in one of the packer trucks.

Mr. Roman: Tim?

Mr. Russell: But we are covered by insurance, right?

Mr. Quinn: For the $12,000 yes.

Mr. Roman: And that gets paid to Penske Truck Leasing?

Mr. Quinn: Basically the repairs were handled through Penske for where the truck had to be sent to get the repairs done to it. It was front end damage.

Mr. Roman: Penske, the maintenance provider?

Mr. Quinn: Maintenance provider. What they did is they have the account set up with the vendor who did the major repairs to the truck. Again, it was a packer truck so Penske pays it and the insurance reimbursed Penske for the repairs.

Mr. Roman: So we will eventually get reimbursed by insurance for $12,000?

Mr. Quinn: We have been, yes. It’s all been reimbursed. It’s done.

Vice President Labow: Anything else, Mr. Roman?

Mr. Russell: Page 15, I’m seeing $82,000 for a portable inspection system. I wonder what that is.

Vice President Labow: Tim’s coming back.

Mrs. Maniscalco: Tim, that’s your Jet Vac.

Mr. Quinn: It’s the sewer camera system that we purchased for the sewer department down in Flanders. It’s for inspecting sewer lines, storm drainage lines and it was partially, the payment was assisted also by Washington Township. It’s going to be a shared piece of equipment between the two Towns.

Vice President Labow: Alright, any other questions on the Bill List?

Mr. Roman: No questions, I just want to make a comment. Personally, I’m happy that we as a Township provide this Bill List not only here in paper, but also on the website. I have been imploring the Board of Education to make their Bill List public. That’s it.

Mr. Roman: Yes, I’d like to move for approval of Resolution number 11. I mean, frankly I was there at Callaremi and it’s a sad state of affairs where a business has been around for 52 years and is being forced to shut down not through any fault of their own. They are currently profitable, but they are being forced to close based on political intervention from our federal government.

Mr. Sohl: Yes, I’d just briefly like to mention that last Friday we completed the first week of ambulance service through the weekdays. It worked out very well during the week. I’m not aware of any problems encountered. We’re moving right along.

Recreation Liaison Report

Mr. Roman: Yes, there was a meeting held June 3rd. One of the items that came up was that the Beach will be open June 13th. A few non-resident Beach memberships have been sold. From what I understand as of last evening, more have been sold since then. There will be new spaces at the Beach and those spaces are where the two old DPW buildings used to be. They have been striped as of recently. Online registration for Recreation programs, the start date is July 1st. That is it.

Open Space Committee Report

Vice President Labow: No meeting. Mr. Greenbaum is not here. We don’t have anything for Planning Board or Board of Adjustment. Open Space, we did not have a meeting last night because we’re having our special meeting tomorrow night. We’re going to be discussing the Trail Plan tomorrow night at 7:00 here. This is the trails that we’ve been working on with our grant that we have from the County working with the Land Conservancy. Hopefully we’ll have a lot of people in attendance. Mr. Perkins: You just snuck right on down there, didn’t you?

Vice President Labow: Oh, I’m sorry. I skipped Mr. Perkin’s Legislative Committee Report. I skipped right over.

Legislative Committee Report

Mr. Perkins: Obviously, during Saturday all of us showed up. Paul Licitra, our Legislative liaison, as well as Assemblyman Gary Chiusano and Assemblywoman Allison McHose attended the rally up at Callremi, as did quite a few of our Council members and a lot of residents. So they are showing their support. As a matter of fact, Gary Chiusano gave an interview with Channel 12, which I understand was on at 10:00 Sunday night maybe, talking about the economic impact that this is having upon our community.

Vice President Labow: I know when I got there in the afternoon they had 870 signatures already. It was quite a turnout.

Mr. Perkins: Up to 1,500 today.

Pride Committee Report

Vice President Labow: Wow. I apologize for skipping over the Legislative Report, Mr. Perkins. I’m going to bounce down to the Pride Committee. We don’t have anything to report right now. We have Board of Education and now we’re on to you, Mr. Roman.

Board of Education Liaison Report

Mr. Roman: Last night there was a Board of Education meeting. It was rather dull, boring, not much was said. I mean, the gist of it was on a positive note. The Teachers of the Year were recognized. It was rather impressive to see that a good portion of the crowd that was there last night were there to support the Teacher’s of the Year. So at least there was some positive that came out of it. There were a lot of heartfelt speeches from some of the teachers, and yes there were lengthy public comments regarding the bussing, and I’d like to report that the Mayor and Mr. Tobey were there. Mr. Greenbaum was also in attendance and that’s it.

Mr. Perkins: Just to reiterate what Mr. Sohl has already reported on, other than the first day glitch with the radio communications, everything seems to be going very well. The squads are working together reasonably comfortably.

Mr. Perkins: Nothing.

Vice President Labow: Library, Mr. Tobey?

Library Board Liaison

Mr. Tobey: Nothing to report.

Senior Citizen Liaison

Vice President Labow: Nothing, alright, and I have nothing to report at this current time with Senior Citizens.

Mr. Perkins: I do, Mrs. Labow.

Vice President Labow: You do, thank you very much.

Mr. Perkins: Thank you to our Clerk, Lisa Lashway, who came over and swore in the new officers. It was a nice event to see a little changing of the guard, and Mrs. Lashway has the listing of the officers for you to take, Colleen.

Vice President Labow: Thank you very much. Public portion, anybody from the public want to address the Council?

PUBLIC PORTION – none

Mr. Perkins: You guys have got to be blown out by now, right?

Vice President Labow: Everybody’s like half asleep back there. Seeing none, any Council Comments? Mr. Tobey?

COUNCIL COMMENTS

Mr. Tobey: Nothing.

Vice President Labow: Mr. Perkins?

Mr. Perkins: Enough said.

Vice President Labow: Mr. Roman?

Mr. Roman: We recently had the Primary election and what I’d like to say is that I’m not extremely happy with the outcome of that election. One of the main reasons is that we have to find somebody to fill some of these other Committees.

Vice President Labow: Mr. Rattner?

Mr. Rattner: I wasn’t real happy either. I have no comments.

Vice President Labow: Okay and I have nothing. Can I have a motion to adjourn?

Mr. Perkins: So moved.

Mr. Roman: Second.
