Senior Transportation available in Mount Olive

Welcome to Mount Olive Township Senior Transportation! The Mount Olive Township Senior Citizen Bus is available free of charge for senior residents (age 55 and older.)

The bus operates Monday through Friday, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM except when municipal offices are closed. However, there is no medical transportation between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. A monthly calendar is published with exact destinations and pick-up times and can be accessed at www.mtoliveseniors.org.

The bus transports seniors to:

  • Medical and Health Services. Medical transportation is limited to Mount Olive, Roxbury, Chester, Dover, and Hackettstown. One week's notice is required for all medical appointments.
  • Food Shopping.
  • Shopping at area Malls.
  • The Nutrition Site at the Senior Building on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please call the Nutrition Site in advance to reserve your meal. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, call (973) 448-7474. On Tuesday and Thursday, call (908) 879-6837.
  • Monthly Health Seminars.
  • Senior Citizen Meetings/Social and Recreational Activities.
  • Social Services.

The senior transportation program received a State grant in 2000 which, along with municipal tax dollars, helped fund the service for MOT Seniors. Senior ridership has increased 80% from 2000 to 2001. In 2001 alone, 1105 seniors were transported to health services, 991 to the senior center for lunch, 1175 went shopping, 1275 were transported to recreation events, and 851 to the senior center programs. Mt. Olive Township hopes to have a new 16 passenger vehicle by the end of 2002 or the spring of 2003.
