Sean Breheney, Eagle Scout Candidate for Troop 156
in Flanders, NJ, recruited his family and friends to
assist him in creating flower boxes, framed in letters,
spelling Mount Olive. These beautiful boxes will adorn
the lawn in front of the Municipal Building on Flanders-Drakestown
Road for years to come. This ambitious project was chosen
by Sean Breheney, to fulfill his Eagle Scout Candidacy,
after discussion with the Township. The project was
chosen from a list of possible Township improvements
that young people could use to fulfill community service
objectives. In describing the project, Sean said that
"small stone fill will hold the green wood "letter
boxes" in place, and they will be filled with soil
and pachasandra. And, to top it off, they will frame
the boxes with garden ties, enhancing the letters like
a fine work of art. Sean said he was fortunate to have
friends and family to support the project. (Endeavor).

I first saw this project in a town in Bergen
County and said to myself, "this would be great in
Mt. Olive." Stated Mayor Paul Licitra. "I then
approached the Boy Scouts for an Eagle project and Sean
came forward to put his signature on the job. Sean, and
the others that helped, can be proud that they have left
their footprint and a legacy in Mt. Olive Township.
